The Oakley Kato Glasses represent a genuine departure from how cycling sunglasses are designed. Where conventional sport frames surround the lens with a structural surround, the Kato eliminates the frame entirely — the lens itself, shaped by Oakley's PhysioMorphic Geometry, carries the structural load. The fit system is where the Kato separates itself from other frameless designs. The Adjustable Rake mechanism lets you tilt the angle between the lens and the earstems, adapting the mask-like geometry to the specific contours of your face. Three Unobtainium nosepads — each with a different thickness and depth — provide fine-tuned offset adjustments for small, medium, and large nose bridges. Unobtainium increases its grip when wet, so the Kato stays in position on hard efforts and in humid conditions. The PRIZM Road lens transmits 20% of visible light — tuned for bright to medium outdoor conditions on road rides. Oakley calibrated the PRIZM Road spectrum specifically for road cycling environments: it enhances contrast to highlight road textures, shadows, and surface markings that a neutral lens would flatten, giving you better depth perception on descents and clearer visibility of hazards at speed. The O Matter frame material keeps the temples lightweight and stress-resistant. One thing to know going in: unlike other Oakley performance models, the Kato's lens is fixed — it's not field-replaceable.
