Mondraker Dusty R Bike Info

The Mondraker Dusty R Bike is Mondraker's answer to riders who want e-assist on gravel without the weight, bulk, or whine that usually comes with it. Part of the brand's Dusty e-gravel lineup alongside the Dusty RR and Dusty S, the Dusty R sits at $9,499 and is built around a motor system light enough to disappear into the ride until a climb reminds you it's there.

The Dusty Stealth Air Carbon frame is a ground-up design, not a gravel frame adapted to hold a battery. On its own it weighs 1,710 grams, with the matching carbon fork adding just 490 grams for a 2,200-gram system weight in size M/L — light figures for any e-bike, let alone one built to handle mixed terrain. The geometry backs that up: a 74-degree seat tube angle and 70-degree head tube angle put the rider in an efficient position for long days in the saddle, while a 16-degree handlebar flare and -7-degree stem angle widen the cockpit for control when the road turns to loose gravel or singletrack. Reach runs from 363mm to 446mm and stack from 548mm to 642mm across the size range, so the fit window stretches from S through XL without changing the bike's underlying feel.

Power comes from a TQ HPR60 motor, one of the lightest and slimmest mid-drive units available at 1.9 kilograms. It produces 60Nm of torque and 350 watts of peak power with up to 200 percent pedal assistance — enough to flatten a climb without the abrupt, binary feel of higher-powered systems built for full-gravity mountain biking. An integrated dropout speed sensor keeps that assistance tied to actual wheel speed rather than guesswork, and a 580Wh battery paired with the color TQ HPR Display V04 gives riders the range to plan a full day out rather than budgeting miles around a battery gauge.

The drivetrain is SRAM's GX Eagle AXS T-Type group, a wireless 12-speed setup that pairs an E.13 Piedmont Core E*Spec crankset and 42t X-Sync Eagle chainring with a 10-52t XS-1275 cassette. That range matters as much on a dead battery as it does under full assist — low enough to grind up a steep fire road unassisted, wide enough to still make sense on flat tarmac between trailheads. SRAM Rival AXS E1 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm Centerlock rotors handle stopping duty, giving the extra weight of the motor and battery the braking power to match.

Mavic Allroad S Carbon UST wheels and 700x50c Maxxis Reaver tires round out the rolling stock, with EXO protection and a 120 TPI casing for a tire that stays supple without folding under rock strikes. Max tire clearance sits at 50mm, leaving room to size up if a route calls for more volume. The finishing kit — an Onoff S3 GR handlebar with Onoff HEX tape, an Onoff S9 Carbon 27.2mm seatpost, and a Fizik Vento Argo X5 saddle — is built for hours in the saddle rather than a quick lap. The Dusty R is aimed at riders who want to cover more ground on mixed-terrain routes, bikepacking loops, or long gravel days, with a motor system quiet and light enough that it never feels like the bike is doing the riding for you.

The RA Perspective

We like what Mondraker did here — instead of bolting a motor onto an existing gravel frame, they built the Dusty R around the TQ HPR60 from the start, and it shows. At 1.9 kilograms, the motor barely changes how the bike handles compared to an unassisted gravel bike. There's no dead weight dragging through corners, no motor whine drowning out the sound of tires on gravel.

The 60Nm of torque and 350 watts of peak power aren't going to launch you up a climb the way a full-power e-MTB motor would, and that's the point. The assist feels more like a tailwind than a rocket boost, which keeps the ride feeling like actual cycling rather than a moped with pedals. On sustained fire-road climbs it's a real difference-maker; on flat tarmac between trail sections, you barely notice it's on.

The wide-range 10-52t cassette is worth calling out — it means the bike still makes sense if you run the battery down before you're done, which is a real consideration on an all-day route. The 580Wh battery gives a healthy buffer, but riders pushing long mixed-terrain days should still plan around it rather than assume unlimited assist.

This is a bike for riders who want to go farther and stay out longer on gravel and adventure routes without hauling a heavier e-MTB platform along for the ride. It's not built for technical singletrack the way Mondraker's mountain bikes are — it's built for covering distance.
