Wolf Tooth CAMO Direct Mount Spider for SRAM 8-Bolt Info
Wolf Tooth CAMO Direct Mount Spider for SRAM 8-Bolt is the foundation of Wolf Tooth’s modular CAMO drivetrain system, engineered specifically for SRAM 8-bolt direct mount cranksets with removable spiders. This listing is for the CAMO spider only; a compatible Wolf Tooth CAMO chainring is required to complete the system.
Designed around the concept of Chainline And Material Optimization (CAMO), this spider allows riders to fine-tune chainline while separating the spider and chainring for smarter material use and easier long-term service. Instead of replacing an entire integrated direct mount chainring, you simply swap the ring—secured with five small bolts—for fast, cost-effective gearing changes.
Precision CNC-machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, the CAMO Direct Mount Spider provides a lightweight and stiff interface between crank and chainring. It is compatible with SRAM 8-bolt cranksets featuring removable spiders, including SRAM Transmission T-Type AXS cranksets, SRAM Transmission 70 and 90 cranks, 2025 Cane Creek eeWings Titanium Cranks (8-bolt), and other cranksets that utilize the SRAM 8-bolt direct mount interface.
Dialed Chainline Options
- M5 (3mm Offset – Dished Inboard): 52mm chainline for Boost bikes or 55mm chainline on DUB Wide spindle cranksets. Also used for certain Praxis Works DM-A configurations.
- M2 (0mm Offset): 55mm chainline on standard DUB spindle cranksets or 49mm chainline on BB30 short spindle cranksets. Also used for certain Praxis Works DM-B configurations.
- System: Requires Wolf Tooth CAMO chainring (round or oval, aluminum or stainless).
- Material: 7075-T6 aluminum.
- Weight: M5 – 28g | M2 – 28g.
- Included: ED-coated steel CAMO mounting bolts.
- Made in: USA.
Compatibility Notes
Compatible with SRAM cranksets using the 8-bolt direct mount interface and removable spiders. Not compatible with cranksets that use non-removable spiders. All CAMO spiders are not compatible with Bash Guide ISCG05 setups.
Chainline is determined by the specific spider offset selected. Proper chainline selection is critical for drivetrain wear, shifting precision, and noise reduction.
Installation Guidelines
- Simple Access: All five chainring bolts are accessible without removing the spider.
- Alignment: Match the dot on the chainring to the dot on the spider for proper positioning.
- Secure Fit: Ensure the spider bosses fully seat into the chainring.
- Torque Spec: Tighten chainring bolts to 4–5 Nm using blue Loctite threadlocker.
For maximum chain retention, especially in muddy or aggressive riding conditions, a clutch-style rear derailleur is recommended. In extreme environments, adding a chainguide or chainkeeper can provide additional protection against chaindrops.
Final Take
The Wolf Tooth CAMO Direct Mount Spider for SRAM 8-Bolt delivers a precise, lightweight solution for riders who want optimized chainline and modular drivetrain flexibility. Built in the USA and engineered for modern 1x systems, it provides a smarter, service-friendly approach to direct mount chainring setups.
