Time RX Instinct Frameset Info
The Time RX Instinct Frameset comes from a French brand that has always done things differently — Time manufactures its own carbon tubes in-house rather than outsourcing to the same factories every other bike brand uses, which gives the company direct control over how each frame rides instead of relying on a supplier's spec sheet. The frameset includes the frame, full carbon fork, headset, and a Time carbon bottle cage, giving you a proven platform to build a custom bike around rather than a stock build dictated by whatever groupset happened to be available.
Construction is built around Time's Integral RTM process, using a TIME MATRIX and VIBRASER carbon layup shaped through resin transfer molding rather than traditional hand lay-up. RTM forces resin through the carbon under pressure inside a closed mold, which is why Time frames tend to come out clean and consistent on the inside as well as the outside. The frame runs a BB30 bottom bracket for a stiff, direct power transfer path, paired with a full carbon SAFE+² fork built to the EN14781 safety standard. RXR Ulteam differentiated chainstays and light alloy rear dropouts with an interchangeable derailleur hanger round out the rear end, so a damaged hanger doesn't mean replacing the whole frame.
Geometry follows Time's evolutionary sloping design across six sizes, from XXS through XL, with an ERGODRIVE position that allows a higher stem placement using fewer spacers than a traditional setup — useful if you want a more upright, all-day position without stacking spacers under the stem. Independent reviewers who've spent time on the RX Instinct describe precise, short-wheelbase handling that rewards smooth, deliberate inputs through corners rather than aggressive last-second steering. That same short wheelbase pays off on climbs, keeping the bike well-positioned during out-of-saddle efforts on steep pitches. The rear triangle absorbs road buzz and minor impacts without deadening feedback from the road, which is the balance Time was aiming for — a frame that holds its composure over rough pavement without losing the responsiveness riders expect from a performance road bike.
Finishing details carry the same attention to detail: a QUICKSET headset with multidiameter bearings, a TRANSLINK seatpost with a CMT cradle, and a braze-on front derailleur mount with two positions to accommodate both classic and compact chainring setups. For riders who want a matched cockpit, Time also offers the frame as a Module+ package that adds ERGOFORCE monobloc carbon handlebars.
At $1,500 — down from a $3,600 regular price — this frameset is an accessible way into Time's hand-built carbon construction without paying flagship pricing. It suits a rider who already knows their fit and groupset preferences and wants a versatile, French-built frame underneath them, equally at home in a fast bunch ride, a long gran fondo, or a solo day in the saddle.
