Scott Addict RC 30 Bike Info
The Scott Addict RC 30 Bike sits at the entry point of Scott's Addict RC lineup — the platform built around the question of how light a race bike can be without trading away the stiffness and handling that define the category. The frame uses HMX carbon, the same fiber grade that runs through the entire RC range, formed through a hollow molding process Scott developed to produce a completely hollow structure without the dead-end tube segments that add weight without structural purpose. That process trimmed 300 grams from the frame kit compared to the previous generation. At $4,999, the RC 30 pairs that HMX chassis with a full Shimano 105 Di2 electronic groupset and a 40mm carbon wheelset — a build level that would have cost significantly more in an earlier product cycle.
HMX Carbon Frame and Integrated Engineering
The Addict RC frame is built for riders who measure everything. HMX carbon delivers a high stiffness-to-weight ratio that makes the bike feel immediate — power goes in, the bike moves forward, without the soft compliance that blunts acceleration on endurance-oriented frames. Cable routing is fully integrated, designed to handle both mechanical and electronic drivetrains without requiring special tools for maintenance or cable replacement. Scott engineered the routing to stay clean and accessible, which matters for a bike ridden in groups and races where reliability isn't optional. The Addict RC fork is also HMX carbon, matched to the frame in both material and stiffness profile for consistent front-end feel under braking and in corners. An Acros AIF-1317 headset handles the bearing interface, and the Syncros SP-R101-CF carbon seatpost manages the final connection between frame and saddle.
Shimano 105 Di2: Electronic Shifting at This Price
The 105 Di2 groupset is the most significant decision Scott made in speccing the RC 30. The R7100 series brought 12-speed electronic shifting to a price bracket that previously meant mechanical only, and it changes the riding experience in concrete ways: no lever throw variation, precise front shifts under load, and electronic trim adjustments that happen without thinking about them. The RC 30 runs the full R7150/R7170 package — front and rear electronic derailleurs, 52/36 chainrings, an 11-34 12-speed cassette, and Shimano 105 R7170 hydraulic disc calipers with 160mm front and 140mm rear rotors. The rotor sizing is worth noting — larger up front for the stopping power that matters on descents, smaller at the rear for weight savings. The cassette range covers sprint finishes at the top and punchy climbs toward the low end.
Syncros Capital 1.0 X40 Wheels and Cockpit
The Syncros Capital 1.0 X40 wheelset is a 40mm carbon clincher — deeper than you typically see at this build level. Carbon rims at 40mm provide meaningful aerodynamic benefit on flat and rolling terrain while staying manageable in crosswinds. The tires are Schwalbe One Race-Guard in 700x30 tubeless-easy, setting the bike up for modern road racing with a width that absorbs road texture without sacrificing speed. The frame clears up to 34mm for riders who want to run a wider setup on rougher routes. The Syncros cockpit — aluminum stem matched to handlebar width by size — features a subtle flare on the drops designed to integrate with the Di2 lever body and improve handling feel in the lower position. It's a standard two-piece setup, which keeps fit adjustments simple.
Race Geometry, Seven Sizes
The Addict RC 30 runs race geometry: long reach numbers, steep seat tube angles (74.5° at XXS, easing to 72.5° at XXL), and consistent 410mm chainstays across the entire size range. Head tube angles steepen as the bike scales up, keeping handling sharp at larger sizes where longer frames can start to feel slow. Seven sizes from XXS to XXL give the RC 30 broad reach — unusual for a true race platform, which often starts at S and leaves smaller riders without a proper fit. The Frozen Green / Carbon Black colorway is the one available from RA Cycles. Pedals are not included. For a rider ready to commit to a race-oriented bike that doesn't hedge on geometry or components, the Scott Addict RC 30 is the place to start.
