Giro Cycling Helmets - RA Cycles

Giro Cycling Helmets

In 1989, Greg LeMond wore a Giro Aerohead in the Tour de France's final time trial — the one where he overturned a 50-second deficit in 24 kilometers to win by eight seconds. That moment put Giro on the map. What Jim Gentes had built in his San Jose apartment four years earlier — a lightweight, aero helmet nobody thought they needed — suddenly everyone wanted.

The Giro collection at RA Cycles spans road, aero, and mountain helmets across 54 products. The Aerohead MIPS II anchors the top of the range at $599.95, with the Eclipse Pro Spherical and Aries Spherical close behind at $349.95. MTB riders have the Manifest Spherical, Montaro MIPS, and Artex MIPS. Prices run from $59.99 to $599.95.

About Giro

Giro was founded in 1985 by Jim Gentes — an industrial designer and competitive cyclist working out of a one-bedroom apartment in San Jose, California. His first helmet, the Prolight, debuted at the 1986 Long Beach Bike Show and returned $100,000 in orders. Three years later, Greg LeMond wore Giro’s Aerohead in the 1989 Tour de France’s final time trial, pulling off one of sport’s great comebacks and cementing Giro as the helmet brand in professional road cycling. The brand was acquired by Bell Sports in 1996 and is now part of Revelyst. MIPS arrived in Giro’s bike lineup in 2018, and Giro’s own Spherical system — inner and outer shells that move independently on impact — advances that protection without adding bulk. The Giro collection at RA Cycles covers four categories. For road performance, the Synthe MIPS II, Helios Spherical, Syntax MIPS, and Aries Spherical cover everything from training to race day. The Aerohead series — including the MIPS II at $599.95 — is built for time trials and fast road riding, while the Eclipse Pro Spherical bridges aero performance and all-day wearability. MTB riders will find the Manifest Spherical, Montaro MIPS, and Artex MIPS for trail riding, and the Switchblade MIPS for aggressive enduro. Entry-level MTB helmets start from $59.99.
