Electronic shifting systems like Shimano Di2, SRAM AXS, and Campagnolo EPS deliver precise, repeatable actuation on every shift without cable tension variables. Wireless systems from Campagnolo’s WRL platform and Leap eliminate housing runs entirely, which matters on bikes where internal routing is difficult or aesthetics are a priority. Mechanical systems remain the field-serviceable, no-battery option — and at the entry and mid-range, they cover the needs of most riders just as well as electronics do at a fraction of the cost.
