Rotor Rex 1.1 Crank Info

The Rotor Rex 1.1 Crank is not only the stiffest, lightest, most adaptable crank Rotor makes. It’s also the only one with a unique 76mm offset spider specifically designed to work with Rotor’s QX1 chainrings.

This last point is important to emphasize. They realized that to provide riders with the widest range of oval chainrings in single-ring applications, they had to re-think the spider. Their 10% ovality QX1 rings have the potential to limit choices. Rather than accept those limitations, this four-arm spider allows for smaller rings than you’d be able to fit on a traditional single-ring spider.

The Rotor spider has been fixed to Rotor’s lightest, stiffest arms and lightest, stiffest axle. The thru-axle is a mtb-width wide enough to work with the BB95 standard, as well as every narrower bottom bracket standard on the market, be it internal or external. Those include: BB90, BBright, PF30, BB30, as well as English-threaded (BSA) bottom brackets, be they 68 or 73mm wide. For BSA, you’ll want Rotor’s bottom bracket. That the crank works with just about every standard makes the Rex crank almost uniquely versatile in the off-road world. You can switch this from bike to bike to bike. The axle is also 30mm in diameter and made of aluminum, which makes it both stiff and light.

The arms are the same you’ll find on Rotor’s 3D+ road cranks. They have CNC-milled the 7075 arms, both on the exterior and interior. The interior possesses Rotor’s Trinity Drilling System, which means that each arm has three hollow channels running the length of the arm. The material and shape make the arms stiff, and the careful drilling makes them light.

In terms of setup, the axle is attached to the left arm, where there is also a load adjustment nut. You install the cranks, use the load adjustment to take out the play, lock down the load adjuster, and you’re set to go.

The Rotor Rex 1.1 Crank is designed to get the most out of you and the most out of Q-rings. Put together, it’s a powerful combination.
